How Depop fees work in Australia

For Australian sellers, the main cost on Depop is the payment processing fee charged through Depop Payments, commonly around 3.3% + A$0.45 per sale, applied to the item price plus any postage you collect. Depop has been moving away from its old flat 10% selling fee toward a buyer protection fee charged to the buyer at checkout, so what a seller pays now depends on the account and can be little more than processing.

Because the model keeps changing, this calculator makes the selling fee editable — set it to 0%, to 10%, or to whatever your Depop app currently displays. Optional Depop Boost promotes a listing for an extra percentage (around 8%) that only applies when a boosted item sells.

The formula

buyer total = item price + postage charged
Depop fees = selling fee + boost + processing (3.3% + A$0.45)
profit = buyer total − item cost − postage cost − Depop fees

Worked example

An A$40 item with free postage, 0% selling fee, no boost: processing = 40 × 0.033 + 0.45 = A$1.77. If it cost A$10 and postage cost A$4, profit = 40 − 10 − 4 − 1.77 = A$24.23. Set the selling fee to 10% to model the older pricing.
