How eBay.ca fees work

Selling on eBay Canada costs a final value fee (FVF) plus a fixed per-order fee. The final value fee is a percentage of the total the buyer pays, which includes the item price and any shipping you charge. On top of that, eBay adds about C$0.30 per order. Optional Promoted Listings charge an extra percentage of the sale that you choose.

Most categories sit around a 13.6% final value fee, but rates vary by category, and eBay Store subscribers pay a slightly reduced percentage. eBay also collects GST/HST and provincial sales tax from buyers where required, so that tax is not part of your seller fee.

The formula

buyer total = item price + shipping charged
final value fee = buyer total × FVF rate
eBay fees = final value fee + C$0.30 + (item price × promoted rate)
profit = buyer total − item cost − shipping cost − eBay fees

Worked example

You sell a C$100 item with C$0 shipping at 13.6%, no promoted ad. eBay's cut is 100 × 0.136 = C$13.60 plus C$0.30 = C$13.90. If the item cost C$40 and shipping cost C$10, your profit is 100 − 40 − 10 − 13.90 = C$36.10.
