eBay.co.uk changed its pricing for casual sellers. Private sellers now pay no selling fees, no final value fee and no listing fee, with a Buyer Protection fee charged to the buyer at checkout instead. Business sellers still pay a final value fee (a percentage of the item price plus postage, varying by category, commonly around 12.8%) plus a fixed per-order fee of about £0.30. Optional Promoted Listings add an ad rate you choose.
Because the final value fee also applies to the postage a business seller charges, pricing postage too low quietly reduces your margin. This tool totals every fee so you can price with confidence.
A business seller sells a £100 item with free postage at 12.8%: fee = 100 × 0.128 = £12.80 + £0.30 = £13.10. If the item cost £40 and postage cost £4, profit = 100 − 40 − 4 − 13.10 = £42.90. A private seller selling the same item pays £0 in eBay fees.
No, private seller selling fees were removed. The buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee instead.
A category final value fee (around 12.8%) on item plus postage, plus about £0.30 per order.
Yes for business sellers, the final value fee applies to the postage you charge too.
eBay UK business fees are generally VAT inclusive; VAT-registered sellers may reclaim it.
Keep item and postage costs down and avoid unnecessary promoted-ad spend.
A buyer-side charge introduced with the removal of private seller fees; sellers do not pay it.
