How Copart UK fees work

Copart UK is an online salvage and used-vehicle auction, and the hammer price is only part of what you pay. On top of the bid you're charged a tiered buyer fee that rises with the price, an internet bid fee that depends on whether you pre-bid or bid live, an admin/gate fee, and, where they apply, storage and other charges. VAT is typically added to the fees, and VAT-registered buyers can often reclaim it.

Registered traders may access different fee levels than public buyers, and heavy vehicles carry higher fees than standard cars. This calculator estimates the buyer and bid fees from published tiers and adds everything into one all-in total.

The formula

fees = buyer fee + internet bid fee + admin fee + storage + other
VAT = fees × 20%
total = hammer price + fees + VAT

Worked example

On a very low lot (£0 bid) as a public buyer: buyer fee £20 + admin fee £65 = £85 in fees, VAT at 20% adds £16, so total ≈ £101. Add a £500 bid and the buyer and internet bid fees rise per the tier tables, with storage on top if you collect late.
