Charge split
How the charge divides between Stripe's fee and your net.
Stripe UK prices by where the card was issued. UK cards are cheapest at about 1.5% + 20p online. EEA cards (wider Europe) are around 2.5% + 20p, and international cards are about 3.25% + 20p. If Stripe converts the payment into pounds, a currency conversion fee of roughly 2% is added. In-person Terminal payments have their own, usually lower, rate for UK cards.
Because the fixed 20p is a bigger share of small charges, the effective rate climbs as amounts shrink. This calculator shows the effective rate so you can see that impact.
A £100 charge on a UK card at 1.5% + 20p: fee = 100 × 0.015 + 0.20 = £1.70, net £98.30. The same amount on an international card at 3.25% + 20p costs £3.45, net £96.55.
